About Us

Welcome to Park Friends

At Park Friends, we believe that the heart of every community beats strongest in its green spaces. Whether it’s a quiet neighborhood park, a sprawling nature reserve, or a hidden trail winding through the woods, these places are more than just land—they’re sanctuaries for wildlife, for connection, and for peace. We created Park Friends to bring together people who feel that same deep appreciation for nature and want to protect it.

What We Do

Our mission is simple: to empower local communities to conserve, enjoy, and advocate for their parks and natural areas. We provide practical resources, highlight sustainable initiatives, and spotlight volunteer opportunities that make a real difference. From planting native trees to organizing clean-up days, we connect you with actions that matter—right where you live.

Topics We Cover

We explore everything that helps parks thrive: native plant restoration, wildlife habitat protection, eco-friendly recreation, urban greening projects, climate-resilient park design, and the social benefits of green spaces. We also share stories from local conservationists, interviews with park rangers, and guides to finding hidden natural gems in your region.

About the Creator

Park Friends was founded by Lachlan Everhart, a lifelong nature advocate and community organizer with roots in Ireland but a passion that spans continents. After spending years volunteering in urban parks and witnessing how access to nature transforms lives, Lachlan saw a need for a centralized, trustworthy platform that could unite people across the U.S. who wanted to make a difference—without having to search endlessly for opportunities. What started as a blog grew into a growing network of park lovers, educators, and environmental stewards.

Why This Website Exists

Too often, people care deeply about nature but don’t know where to start. They want to help, but don’t know which local groups to join or what actions truly matter. Park Friends exists to remove that barrier. We don’t just talk about conservation—we make it accessible. Every article, every event listing, every tip is curated with one goal: to help you take your next step into nature, with confidence and community.

Our Values

We believe in:

  • Authenticity: No greenwashing. We share real stories and verified opportunities.
  • Inclusivity: Everyone deserves access to nature, and everyone has something to contribute.
  • Local Focus: Global problems are solved through local action.
  • Collaboration: We’re stronger together.

Our content is researched, fact-checked, and written with care—never rushed, never sensationalized. We listen to our readers, and we let your questions and experiences shape what we do next.
